Tata Sky + HD Review
I had a chance to try out TATA Sky + HD few days ago. I’m really impressed with the fact that such a featuristic DVR box coming at just Rs.3999. It comes with 500GB hard disk which lets you record your favorite programs to watch in your convenient time. Best part about recording is that you can record two channels simultaneously & also it lets you watch a different channel. Scheduler is also quite powerful which can be configured to record your favorite TV programs automatically everyday so that you don’t miss it again.
TATA Sky provides mobile application & web access to your HD box. There is no need to sit in front of the TV to record the program, just use their mobile app or web interface to do the recording. HD Box also comes with standard functions like pause live TV, I think which should be very useful in this cricketing season. HD Box supports high definition aspect ratio (16:9) , 7.1 channel surround sound, TVoD video on demand service & lots more. I couldn’t try out the high definition & 7.1 surround sound since I don’t have proper setup at home for it.
Overall, it’s a value for money HD DVR box with really good features in built. I checked with Airtel & Reliance’s offerings in this space, but TATA Sky seems to be the lowest in price but no compromise in the feature set. Reliance sells HD DVR at Rs.3999 which has just 160GB hard disk & Airtel for Rs 3590 which doesn’t specify the hard disk capacity. TATA Sky + wins with really good features and competitive pricing.
