It was no doubt uncomfortable for the British when London Mayor Boris Johnson got stuck as he tried zip-lining through a park to promote the Olympic Games on Wednesday. But at least Chinese people liked it.
Via the Wall Street Journal:
[I]n China the mere effort of riding on a zip line earned the foreign mayor more plaudits. “Such a lovable mayor,” wrote Doris, the founder of a Beijing-based cafĂ©, Sculpting in Time.
“I love his spontaneity, not pretentious at all!” wrote another.
“Even though the U.K. team isn’t doing so well topping the medals chart, Mr. Johnson is certainly enjoying his share of joy.”
At home, a mild embarrassment. In China, a beacon of light and hope.
